National Puppy Day

National Puppy Day is a day to raise awareness about the millions of unwanted puppies and dogs in shelters, and to encourage people to adopt to help end puppy mills and pet overpopulation. Check out these reasons to adopt a dog:

Save the life of a shelter pet. Only 29% of pets are adopted from shelters. Save a life and give a dog a home they wouldn’t have otherwise.

Exercise more. Studies show that people who have dogs are more likely to be active than those without dogs. Heading out on a daily walk with your pup will make you both healthier.

Meet likeminded people. Dogs are great conversation starters – being out with your pup often warrants questions and comments from passersby. Bringing your dog to a park or other pet-friendly location is a great way to meet people with similar interests.

Be happy! Dogs lift our mood, can reduce stress, help with depression and keep us calm. There’s no denying that our furry best friends enrich our lives in many ways.
