Next week contractors will begin the long-awaited work on the 83rd Avenue corridor, through the P83 District. Now that the project is upon us comes the reality that traffic restrictions on 83rd Avenue, between Bell Road and Mariners Way, is a part of the project.
Beginning on Monday, October 27 traffic controls will be in place to allow for work to be done in medians and near the roadway edge at prominent corners. One lane will be closed in each direction through the project area. The available travel lane will vary daily depending on the nature of work taking place. For the work taking place on center medians, the inside lane will be closed to traffic; for work on the corners, the restriction will close the outside lane.
Traffic restrictions will likely be in place until the week of Thanksgiving. Lane closures will return the first two weeks of December, and then again in early January. The project is slated for completion after the first of the year.
This phase of the P83 Street Improvement Project includes median landscape enhancements, pedestrian improvements, new directional signage, and new aesthetic additions specific to the P83 District.
We will continue to update you on progress with the streetscape improvement project. Please feel free to share this information with other interested parties.
